Module 1 · How you get recommended

Lesson 2 of 12 · 6 min

What these systems read about you

Your website is one source. It is rarely the one that decides.

Ask an AI tool about a hotel and it does not just read the hotel’s website.

It reads the Google listing. The Booking.com page. TripAdvisor. The tourism board. A local blog. Then it compares them.

Agreement is the mechanism

When those sources say the same thing, the system is confident, and confidence is what gets you named.

When they disagree, it has a problem. Your site says check-in is 3pm. Booking says 4pm. Your listing has the old phone number from before you switched providers.

Now it has to pick, or hedge. Hedging usually means leaving you out and naming somewhere simpler.

Nothing warns you when this happens. Your phone still rings. The listing still works. You just stop appearing.

Why the plain competitor beats your beautiful site

This is the part that annoys people most.

An unremarkable place with a bare listing on a booking platform gets recommended over a lovely independent website. It looks unfair.

The platform makes every listing state its facts in a fixed format. Guests, beds, bathrooms, pets, parking. All of it filled in, because you cannot publish without it.

Nobody there thought about AI. They got it as a side effect. Your site is prettier and harder to read.

What this means for you

You are not fixing your website. You are fixing the picture that forms when someone reads five sources at once.

That is why this course spends as much time on your Google listing and your other profiles as it does on your own pages.

Next: find out where you stand today, before you change anything.

One record, five surfaces, and what a disagreement costs A system deciding whether it is confident about your business compares the sources that mention you. Agreement is the whole mechanism.

No error appears anywhere when this happens. The listing still works, the phone still rings, and the only symptom is being named in fewer answers.
